If you are considering getting full arch dental implants or already have them, you may find that you need special tools to properly care for certain areas of your mouth. These are some of the dental implant cleaning tools that we found to be useful for ourselves.
Important Note
Prior to using any of these tools, be sure to contact your dental/healthcare professional to confirm if these are the appropriate tools for your personal situation. Also check with your healthcare professional on when is the appropriate time to begin using these tools (e.g. how long after your dental implant surgery) so that you don't risk damaging your implants and prosthetics or creating delays in your recovery/healing time.
Choosing A Water Flosser
Water flossers (also known as oral irrigators or dental water jets) help to remove any particles that are trapped between your gum and prosthetics to prevent food and plaque buildup. Waterpik® is the most well-known brand of water flossers.
In selecting the best water flosser for implants, there are two main things you can look for:
- a water flosser that you can use an implant denture tip with, and
- a water flosser that has a dial so you can adjust the water pressure to your liking.
Implant Denture Tip
Waterpik® makes an implant denture tip (Model Number: DT-100E) that is specifically designed to reach areas that are hard to access with other water floss tips.
Watch the video below that demonstrates how to use the Waterpik® DT-100E implant denture tip to clean your full arch dental implant.
